Multitasking

Multitasking – Avoid it –It Reduces Efficiency

Multitasking means doing more than one work at a time. We may be eating while watching TV and may be doing one more work thing like talking with other or working on laptop. Multitasking give a feel of satisfaction of doing more than one work at a time and thinking that we are more productive, but actually it is opposite, it reduces the productivity, to work efficiently we should not be multitasking.

Why we do Multitasking and how it affects us?

Why? Why, we do multitasking. The answer is very simple, we want to do lot many work together. Because, we think that by doing so we are more productive, it gives us a feeling of emotional satisfaction. We think that we are utilizing our time more efficiently, it gives us a feeling that we are more efficient and productive by doing more than one work together. We can read a book, watch TV show, while chatting with friends and by doing so we feel more efficient.

But, multitasking affects us, our efficiency and our productivity. While multitasking we are unable to concentrate on a single work. Our concentration, our efficiency, our full capacity of doing the work is divided in many works at the same time. In this way our efficiency is reduced. Multitasking looks good from outside, but it is just opposite. It affect our productivity very badly. As our concentration is divided, we do not remember the book, which we read while watching the TV. If we chat with lot many friends together on Facebook then we write reply of one friend to other friend and later on carry on telling “sorry, it was not for you”.

How to increase our Efficiency?

In multitasking our capacity of doing the work is divided in more than one work and thus reducing our efficiency. We are unable to focus on one work.

In single tasking our full focus in on single work and we can do that work more efficiently and the result will be more fruitful and productive.

Just to feel good people fall in the habit of multitasking. But, actually the multitasking people are generally less productive.

To increase the efficiency we should be single tasking.

If we want to study, we should not go for reading the book while watching the TV or talking with someone.  In this way, we can increase our learning. This is only single tasking. In single tasking our productivity increases, we can work more efficiently.
In single tasking we concentrate on a single work at a time. It increases our efficiency and we become more productive.
